Surah Al Balad in Arabic

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ
وَأَنتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ
وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ
يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ
أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ عَيْنَيْنِ
وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ
وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ
فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ
فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ
أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ
يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ
أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ
ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ
أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ
وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ
عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌ

English Translation

Verse	Translation
1	I swear by this city (Makkah)
2	And you (O Muhammad) are free in this city
3	And [by] the begetter and that which he begot
4	Verily, We have created man in toil
5	Does he think that no one has power over him?
6	He says, "I have wasted abundant wealth."
7	Does he think that no one sees him?
8	Have We not made for him two eyes?
9	And a tongue and two lips?
10	And shown him the two ways?
11	But he has not broken through the difficult pass
12	And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass?
13	It is the freeing of a slave
14	Or feeding on a day of severe hunger
15	An orphan of near relationship
16	Or a needy person in misery
17	Then he is of those who believe and advise one another to patience and mercy
18	Those are the companions of the right
19	But those who disbelieve Our signs, they are the companions of the left
20	Over them will be fire closed in

Urdu Translation

آیت	ترجمہ
1	مجھے اس شہر (مکہ) کی قسم
2	اور تم اسی شہر میں رہتے ہو
3	اور (قسم) والد اور اس کی اولاد کی
4	ہم نے انسان کو مشقت میں پیدا کیا
5	کیا وہ سمجھتا ہے کہ اس پر کوئی قابو نہیں پائے گا؟
6	وہ کہتا ہے: میں نے بہت سا مال برباد کیا
7	کیا وہ سمجھتا ہے کہ اسے کسی نے دیکھا نہیں؟
8	کیا ہم نے اسے دو آنکھیں نہیں دیں؟
9	اور ایک زبان اور دو ہونٹ
10	اور ہم نے اسے دونوں راستے دکھا دیئے
11	پھر وہ گھاٹی پر سے نہ گزرا
12	اور تم کیا جانو کہ وہ گھاٹی کیا ہے؟
13	کسی گردن کو آزاد کرنا
14	یا بھوک کے دن کھانا کھلانا
15	یتیم رشتہ دار کو
16	یا خاک نشین مسکین کو
17	پھر وہ ان لوگوں میں سے ہو جو ایمان لائے اور صبر اور مہربانی کی نصیحت کرتے ہیں
18	یہی لوگ دائیں طرف والے ہیں
19	اور جنہوں نے ہماری آیتوں کا انکار کیا وہ بائیں طرف والے ہیں
20	ان پر آگ بند کر دی جائے گی

Hindi Translation

आयत	अनुवाद
1	मैं क़सम खाता हूँ इस शहर (मक्का) की
2	और आप (मुहम्मद) इसी शहर में रहते हैं
3	और (क़सम) वालिद और उसकी औलाद की
4	यक़ीनन इंसान को हमने मशक्कत में डाला
5	क्या वह समझता है कि उस पर किसी का बस नहीं चलेगा?
6	वह कहता है: मैंने ढेरों माल खर्च कर डाला
7	क्या वह समझता है कि उसे किसी ने देखा नहीं?
8	क्या हमने उसे दो आँखें नहीं दीं?
9	और एक ज़बान और दो होंठ
10	और हमने उसे दोनों रास्ते दिखा दिए
11	फिर वह कठिन घाटी से नहीं गुज़रा
12	और तुम क्या जानो कि वह कठिन घाटी क्या है?
13	किसी गर्दन को आज़ाद करना
14	या भूख के दिन खाना खिलाना
15	क़रीबी रिश्तेदार यतीम को
16	या ज़रूरतमंद को जो धूल में पड़ा हो
17	फिर वह उन लोगों में से हो जो ईमान लाए और सब्र व दया की सलाह देते हैं
18	यही लोग दाहिने हाथ वाले हैं
19	और जिन्होंने हमारी आयतों का इनकार किया वे बाएँ हाथ वाले हैं
20	उन पर आग बंद कर दी जाएगी
